Definitions
- App: The iOS, Android and Web applications that run Machiavelli
- Game Events: The events that transpire when playing a game. Game events include joining, quiting, moving cards, etc. The name you choose to use in an online game is also included in game events.
- Service: The Machiavelli internet service
- Offline Game: A game played locally with a single human player and one or more computer players.
- Online Game: A game played over the internet with one or more human players, and any number of computer players.
- Game Exception: Unexpected game state transition, as in the case of an application crash, that can happen in either an offline or online game.
Offline Game
The App will not send Game Events to the Service, except in the case of a Game Exception (see below).
Online Game
The App will send Game Events to the Service, including the case of a Game Exception (see below).
Game Exception
In the case of a Game Exception the user chooses whether or not to send the Game Events and to the Service.
How the Service uses Game Events
The service uses Game Events to coordinate moves betwee online game players. Game Events are also analyzed to improve game performance and gather statistics. Game Events that come from uploaded Game Exception information are used to fix game bugs.
